The 2010 Special Olympics Bocce Bash is a team competition.
The Teams:
- All teams must have 4 players (no previous Bocce experience needed)
- Players can be male or female and can be between the ages of 18 and 180.
- Entry forms must be filled out and returned with payment by May 1st to be eligible to play.
- A $500 donation should be made payable to Special Olympics and included with entry forms.
- Team must come up with a Team Name; and represent that name well. Costumes, team shirts and paraphenalia encouraged.
- On Friday, May 21, all players will receive an invite (admits two) and should attend the Friday Night Match Party at Daniel Island Grille.
- On Saturday, May 22, all players (that means all four!) should arrive no later than 8:30 a.m. at Blackbaud Stadium ready to roll (any later and you risk missing the mimosas).
- On both Friday and Saturday, all players must consent that they will not cry, complain, foam at the mouth, be crude or rude at anytime and will smile throughout the entire day.
The Perks:
- Breakfast, lunch and cold beverages will be provided throughout the day for participating bocce ballers.
- Complimentary T-shirts will be handed out and are required to be worn to work the Monday following the tournament.
- All team members will receive a complimentary invite for two (you and a date!) to the Friday Night Match Party the night before the event!
The Competition:
- Each team is guaranteed to play three matches in the morning.
- Each court official will keep a log of scores from the three games and will call in the totals to the scoring table.
- The highest ranking team from each court will advance to a single elimination playoff in the afternoon.
- New this year, those who are did not win in the morning can pay their way into a second 'not-quite-a-winner' losers bracket.
Payment:
- As part of the signup process, you can pay for your team or pay to sponsor a court by sending in a check, paying with a Paypal account, or paying with your credit card through Paypal (which does not require setting up an account).
